California Wildfires

Disaster Relief Response Update

In January 2025, intense windstorms across Southern California led to multiple widespread, destructive wildfires in neighborhoods across the Los Angeles region. To support long-term recovery efforts, Truist Foundation made a $100,000 contribution to the Center for Disaster Philanthropy’s (CDP) California Wildfires Recovery Fund. The foundation also provided $1 million to the American Red Cross’ Annual Disaster Giving Program in July 2024, which uses year-round funding to quickly mobilize on-the-ground support for shelters and other immediate needs when unexpected disasters such as this strike.

"Truist Foundation is deeply committed to supporting communities in times of crisis, and we know the wildfires spreading across the Los Angeles region will change the lives of countless families,” said Lynette Bell, president of Truist Foundation. “Our contribution aims to help provide immediate relief and long-term support for vulnerable populations, including wage earning workers who lost their incomes and homes, as they rebuild their lives and regain stability. Our hope is that this funding will not only assist in meeting urgent needs but also foster resilience and hope for the future."
